Notes:
- In the global sports community, the UN “Sports for Climate Action Framework” was established at COP24 in 2018, with the United Nations and the IOC leading the way as the sports world united to tackle climate change.
- The Sport Positive Summit is an annual forum held in conjunction with the Sports for Climate Action Framework signatory General Assembly.
- Since its founding, Sport For Smile has actively participated, including speaking engagements and awareness-raising activities in Japan. Mie Kajikawa, the organization’s representative director, has represented Japan at the Sport Positive Summit every year since 2020 (participating online due to the COVID-19 pandemic), and in 2022, she supported the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins (B.League) in their first appearance by a Japanese sports organization at the offline Summit.
- Mie has also served as a judge for the BBC Green Sport Awards and the Sport Positive Awards, which began last year.
- The “Allies” group, which supports the Sport Positive Summit, includes organizations promoting sustainability in sports worldwide, such as the Green Sports Alliance (mainly focused on American professional sports) and the Sports and Sustainability International, which Sport For Smile helped to establish as a founding organization.
